54 Newmarket Square,

ZIP: 02118

The Phoenix, an innovative and free sober active community, announced the grand opening of its flagship 11,000 sq. ft. Boston multi-purpose fitness facility at 54 Newmarket Square on September 29 at 11am. The nonprofit organization, which has inspired more than 26,000 people across America, is redefining recovery through a unique model that helps people recover from substance use disorders and heal from related adverse experiences by leveraging the transformative power of social connection and physical activity.
Memberships are free of charge for anyone with a minimum 48 hours of continuous sobriety and include daily classes ranging from CrossFit and boxing to yoga and climbing. Every discipline offered is scalable to accommodate beginner to expert levels, and each workout helps individuals become less defined by their substance use disorder and more as athletes, friends and contributing community members.

Members of the public pursing a sober lifestyle and supporting those in recovery are invited to attend to the grand opening celebration. Speakers include founder Scott Strode, Peter Lynch of the Lynch Foundation and participants in The Phoenix’s programs. Various local government officials, donors from area foundations, as well as recovery advocates, will be in attendance.
The Phoenix encourages those looking for assistance or simply wanting to learn more to visit the website www. thephoenix.org/ or follow www.facebook.com/ThePhoenixMassachusetts/ for local programming.
