s must know how to classify their products. Failure to do so\, can result
in costly fines and penalties. Importers must understand commodity classif
ication via the \;Harmonized Tariff \;Schedule of the
United States \;(HTSUS). And exporters must understand how The S

tic and Foreign Commodities Exported from the United States) works. T
he Schedule is used to classify commodities for export from the United Sta
tes.
\nThis knowledge is necessary:

the Electronic Export Information (EEI) in ACE\; and
\n3. To complete
shipping documents\, such as certificates of origin\;

costly fines\, penalties\, shipment delays\; and
\n5. To stay out of
trouble with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)\, the U.S. Census Bu
reau\, and other U.S. federal entities\, and avoid costly and aggravating
penalties.

d System (HS) of Classification\, commonly referred to as the Harmonized C
ode. Classification of goods under the HS is governed by a series of Gener
al Rules of Interpretation (GRI)\, Legal Notes\, Rulings and Legal Decisio
